I signed up for Squidoo today. Every social network needs an etiquette statement *ignores the new-agey feel-goodies* Social networks are about trust and integrity and values. That would be shared values. Only we don’t share each others values. You might find a potty mouthed comedian funny: I just think he needs his mouth washed out. Differing ideas of right and wrong = differing values. Twitter is a wierd little network tool. You post up information in 140 characters or less. People can then ‘dine in’ – read the updates on the webpage. Or they can ‘Take Out’ – choose to receive your status updates on their mobile or cell phone, on an RSS reader, or get the update elsewhere such as Facebook. I’m noticing a disturbing trend of large well known companies who invite passionate Web 2.0 evangelists, or knowledgeable bloggers or bumbling social network strategists (me) to “meetings” to discuss “potential” working arrangements. These companies then proceed to question, prod, probe and otherwise force themselves on the (usually) solo operator or small business, all the while taking notes.
