I was phaffing around with the TV on today and heard Ellen DeGeneres talking about presenting InTheMotherhood webisodes. It’s a community (underwritten by Suave and Sprint) of mothers writing in their most embarassing or heartwarming stories. Scripts I guess. The Community votes. Then 3 actresses play out the stories. Chelsea Handler plays Heather, a divorced mother, Leah Remini is Kim, an ex career woman now stay at home mum and Maria played by Eileen Galindo is college grad now mother. The times, they are a-changin’: Amazon may offer DRM-free music from major labelsAmazon seems set to open a mainstream online music store as early as next month, and aims to follow the new EMI/Apple model of offering tracks unencumbered with DRM.The company already sells music from a number of independent labels, but has reportedly approached the majors with a proposal to offer unprotected MP3 tracks from their catalogues. EMI has already indicated a willingness to provide unprotected tracks in any format a retailer cares to sell, so it would be surprising if a EMI/Amazon deal wasn’t imminent. One card Amazon Continue Reading…

Update: Michelle’s new site.My friend from Massey University in New Zealand is Michelle Mars. Today she was interviewed by Kate O’Toole at Triple J’s hack program about, of all things, designer vaginas. Have a listen to her recorded interview – it’s an intriguing phenomenon. If you’re a major fan of the Brazillian… you’ll wanna know about this! 2 academics at MASSEY University in New Zealand reckon that the designer vagina has inflitrated pop culture – so much so – that there’s not alot of room for full bush anymore. Are we really such sheep? It reminds me of Snow Crash Continue Reading…

Australian Big Brother have run into some problems – profile security, uploads to YouTube, audience members streaming content to fansites, and 3mobile revealing the new housemates ahead of time. Except for the security issue, none of it will impact the audience numbers and will probably increase it. Set the information free and all that user generated anarchy makes for an even more compelling story… (see SMH for backstory) Yep, their problems are nothing compared to what GMTV in England are facing – Panorama revealed last night: On April 23rd. It had been confirmed that for the past four years. GMTV Continue Reading…

This is too sad for me to go into the details. Read the Sydney Morning Herald coverage here. AT JUST 16 Jodie Gater and Stephanie Gestier appear to have made an unimaginable pact. On her MySpace web page Jodie had written: “let Steph and me b free.” Yesterday, a week after they disappeared, the bodies of the two girls were found in bushland on the outskirts of Melbourne. It is understood Jodie and Stephanie had hanged themselves, after first posting apparent farewell messages on the internet. But I do want to ask – if you were to come across a Continue Reading…

Crikey on the Friday 13th did a mini-’analysis’ of Fairfax bloggers. I’m sure they won’t mind if I post part of their findings here on my little blog. : Even the most casual reader of Australian newspaper websites will have noticed the explosion of blogs as on-line editors embrace connectivity and bleed their staff writers white. The growth has been almost viral. So today we decided to do a brief survey of the latest Fairfax bloggers and their most recent posts. Some have managed 50 words since last November. Others have not. Stay tuned next week for a survey of Continue Reading…
