RSS Extensions to Omnibox/URL box for Browsers (for my students)

This is what you want in your browser right? sometimes it’s IN the URL box (Chrome for example), sometimes its on the buttons of the menu bar (IE for example). Here’s Chrome:

Add these extensions/addons/plugins to your preferred browser if you want the browser to find the RSS feeds for you. These links/extensions may or may not work!

To subscribe to a feed using Internet Explorer

  1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Internet Explorer, and then, in the list of results, click Internet Explorer. If the Command bar isn’t visible, right-click the Favorites button and then select Command bar.
  2. Go to the website that offers a feed.
  3. Click the Feeds button to view feeds on the webpage.

Tips on social media guidelines for staff. This article references the Australian Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet secret guidelines requiring staff to report on fellow workers who post anonymously an opinion on a political situation. There is also a rather unclear statement around when you can and cannot critique Government officials. I have not gone into the repercussions – staff will blow up online and no one will know as there were no warning signs, or that contractor organisations and eventually small business will follow these draconian practices. That’s a given. I’ve stuck with Tips :)

What is Neknominate? And Should we ask an American company (Facebook, Google) to censor Australians citizens that are doing stupid but not illegal stuff? If we hand our sovereignty over to Facebook and Google (I don’t include Twitter as they have already rolled over and made no attempt to protect our privacy), should we get pissy if Saudi, China and Korean Governments demand the same?
