This global media organisation is undertaking a major transformation initiative in its Australian businesses, leading to an unparalleled new opportunity for an experienced and visionary digital technology manager. This role will report directly to the Group CTO and work closely with the Group Architecture team, with Product Managers and the corresponding Technology Managers of 8 high profile consumer Web sites.
Managing a team of 3-4 developers and 1 Solution Architect you will take ownership of the delivery of “UGC core” technologies that can be utilized by single and multiple Web sites and drive optimum performance of all UGC technology-related services.To be considered for this role it is essential that you have delivered 1-3 significant UGC projects that have successfully implemented UGC platforms/ services in a major Digital, and/ or ideally a Media-Web environment.
You will be responsible for building a unified and far reaching technology roadmap, across a range of existing and to be developed UGC services, across:
- Blogging
- Digital Video
- Podcasting, Vodcasting
- Mobile – SMS and Phonecasting via mobilie systems
- Photography
- RSS & Middleware Integration
This will involve you in the complex challenges of technology redesign and business re-alignment. You will leverage both inter-site synergies as well as tracking local and global industry trends to create robust scalable technologies that will drive competitive advantage and lower TCO & TCI outcomes.
This opportunity will appeal to an ambitious and forward-thinking individual eager to stay at the very front of the industry and keen to make their mark and influence events. Current technologies include Java, Apache-Tomcat, Vignette CMS, Redhat, Squid (Open Source Proxy), Hostworks Accipiter, Akami (Caching), however, major technology re-design is underway, particularly with content management, search technologies and integration.
A combination of mindful assertiveness, architectural flair, team work and technology business case development expertise is required to realise the best of class outcomes that are required.
