Boxing forums

ByLaurel Papworth May 19, 2006

To the person who asked me. Yeah there are boxing forums. And yes I’m sorry I had no idea there was a fight on the other night. I live in a cave. (A cave with internet, but a cave nonetheless). For anyone else who has no clue – Mundine beat Green at Sydney Stadium. Boxing…

Boxing forums – check Google Directories on Boxing. BTW I actually like boxing. But I’m a girl so people think I don’t. 🙁

Not many forums/online communities in Australia. One of the newspapers should open up a sports forum. Or maybe ESPN should (American one doesn’t have much dialogue). Or maybe a gambling shop – trade tips and discuss the ring and weight and fitness of the boxers. Or whatever it is you guys and gals do. I found a couple of threads, mostly flame wars, over at places like Vibe.com.au …

I better do the caveat thing – injuryupdate.com.au has a forum thread on deaths from Boxing – nearly 900 so far.

Actually an online betting forum would be interesting… discuss racetracks and the weather and stuff. Or is all that too hush hush and only to be whispered? Still it would be nice – pull in live scores, history to be compared, match it with syndicated feeds of discussions. Profiles of course would be critical. I wonder if we can have users set the betting prices? Like they do at the races? ‘course the legalities are a nightmare, but it could work nicely. I belonged to Centerbet years ago – I just checked their site. They have tutorials now, so I might actually spend that 50 bucks they’ve had for about10 years but no wiki-style tips. There’s a guy called Gerard there but I prefer tips that come out of discussion, not one guy putting his case across. Someone email Gerard Daffy and find out if he has a blog?

Nope nothing like that there. Shame, cos Lady Luck ain’t no friend of mine.
