TV: Live or Die Reality TV Show

Those disappointed that reality show Survivor didn’t quite live up to its dramatic title are in luck — contestants on a bizarre new Dutch program will actually be fighting to stay alive.

In The Big Donor Show, which is set to air this Friday, a terminally ill cancer patient will select one of three patients to receive her kidneys.

Viewers will watch testimonials from the three Dutch contestants, aged between 18 and 40, and send in text message advice to the donor to help her decide who should receive the lifesaving operation.

BTW did you know that Reality TV really took off due to that big Writer’s Guild strike – no writers, no scripts, lots of cameramen, a truckload of famewhores? Well what else would you do?? Anyway you can vote (ninemsn site – as usual, they are crap with linking) if the show should air. My vote? HealthCare by SMS suckz. As a television revenue stream involving trailer trash being kicked off shows is one thing but terminally ill people being voted out of organs defies belief, even if they wouldn’t have had access to that organ normally. And no, TV production houses can’t hide behind the “bringing attention to this worthy problem” bullshit.
