When Karen Huff (senior citizen) was bullied on a bus, the guy Max Sidorov that found the video on Facebook, reposted it to Indiegogo (a social fundraising site) and named and shamed the school involved. He wanted to raise money for Karen to have a vacation – well, $600,000 dollars later (and still a month to go), Karen will get a vacation of a lifetime!
Today the Australian Government stepped up it’s campaign to hide the extent the epidemic of bullying that is occurring in schools by banning the evidence. As social media sites continue to turn over the rock of social evils and shine a light on social ills that we assumed were “rare” or “exaggerated” the Government’s response…
The 13 attributes of cyberbullying: What is a cyberbully? Can adults really be bullied by pixels? Surely it’s a case of sticks and stones? Or should we speak up? Would you support a cyberbully by advertising on Mumbrella’s site? Would you hire Tim Burrowes of Mumbrella to speak at your events or pay to attend events he is chairing? Or is this just “acceptable” competitive behaviour by someone who see’s himself as my competitor in the social media space? If you saw him bullying would you walk away, laugh at the ‘fun and games’, be too scared to get involved?
