Internet TV service Joost has acquired $45m (£22.6m) in venture capital.
Five separate parties invested in the service, which launched commercially last week.
Among the investors are Index Ventures, Sequoia Capital, Li Ka Shing Foundation, CSB Corporation and Viacom.
CBS has already contributed more than 2,000 hours of content to the service including news and popular TV shows CSI and Survivor.
Viacom also contributed content from its properties MTV, VH1 and Paramount Pictures.
Each investor will take a minority percentage of Joost.
