So I reinstalled Qik today. It allows me to do livestreaming from my mobile phone to the ‘net. And while there saw this social media ad for Sundance and Ashton Kutcher (wikipedia) and Kevin Rose (from Digg):
I didn’t really think anything of it, I was trying to figure out where the download to Nokia 95 link was (Hey Laurel, for next time? it’s in PROFILE called REINSTALL) and getting grumpier by the second. Remember Qik? I wrote about the future of social video and the YouTube killer a while ago.
It was only when I was on Twitter when checking out one of my new followers (tip for Twitter: scan down their tweets, see what they are saying, decide if to follow or not) they mentioned Ashton Kutcher again. I forget who it was now (edit: add later?) but they pointed me to Ashton Kutcher having a Twitter account called APLUSK.
Notice that he from Twitter, links to TwitPics? That’s a feature of TwitPic
Anyway, notice he uses CONTENT sites to blog, video and photo his journeys around Sundance and then uses Twitter as a DISTRIBUTION channel to push out to 700 (since yesterday, and growing) followers.
So they are all DINE OUT or TAKE OUT social networks. You know, you take your content out from under your own brand and whack it up on someone elses social network.
The DINE IN version is called 24HoursAtSundance.com – I’ve got to go, so I’ll let you play there on your own. But notice social bookmarkin, blogs…
….widgets and whatnot
Don’t forget, promoting an event means a short shelf life but it also drops commitment required markedly. Which is why media and marketing LOVE campaigns and wriggle out of the long haul engagement stuff quite often. Naughty. 😛
What do you think of the blog theme? Don’t get too attachd, I might change it tomorrow. And the day after. And the day after. Pink would be nice maybe…?
