Kinda odd to think I have readers in beautiful, far away, Portugal. Anyway, I think we’ll make it into a bit of a holiday. Take a few days and look around. What do you think?
EDIT: bumping this one up as I’m leaving tonight. Friday 12th June. May blog more, or less, depending on my mood, the weather, food and alcohol on the Algarve. 😛
(orginally published January 17th 2009)
Enjoy the Algarve Laurel! June is a great time to visit!
Perfect weather and not too crowded!
Enjoy the fantastic gorgeous beach at Praia da Rocha, the beautiful riverside at Portimão and catch a boat to Silves.
Silves is architecturally unique in the Algarve. With it’s imposing castle and cathedral the town is immediately captivating but is also incredibly relaxing. Surrounded by orange and almond trees the town has a cork museum worth visiting.
If you get a chance you should also experience Monchique. Monchique has beautiful plant-decorated alleyways and a delightful spa. From Monchique’s summit at Pico da Foia you’ll be able to sample the beautiful panoramic views of the green mountains and countryside as well as the fabulous west coast.
Lagos is a ‘slow’ city with lots of history, relaxed atmosphere and lovely beaches.
All of these are easily accessible from your conference venue in Carvoeiro!
I hope you have a great time!
I have a feeling you are a spam bot, but hey! thank you, useful information 😛
Hi Laurel! Great to know that you’re spending some time in Portugal! 🙂
It’s lovely, truly beautifull! I guess that you’ll have some time to travel. If you go to Lisbon or Porto let me know! I can be you’re personal guide! 🙂
I’m a young entrepreneur, and I do follow your work! Fan of yours! I’m also the founder of the E-Club of the largest University in Portugal (UPorto). Maybe we can work on something to bring to the University!
Send me an e-mail!
