Every so often newspapers find out what we already know – that human beings take their main course of facts with a side dish of irony, humour and irreverency. The renaming of the concert “The Big Chill” from “The Wanky Balls Festival” should probably have set off warning bells in theĀ  mind of the editor if not the journalist. Ah well. Live and Learn.

Just a quick update on this old blog post about the Future Melbourne wiki and Government 2.0: The first round of collaborative drafting in the Future Melbourne wiki has now finished. Over the coming months the plan will continue to evolve under the guidance of the City of Melbourne’s Future Melbourne Team. From Cnet about a 10 months ago: Despite the fact that it can be a bit of a mess at times, I love Wikipedia. I’m an information fiend (the kind of geeky kid that asked for encyclopedias for Christmas), and all those Web pages are an amazing source of great–if not always accurate and objective–facts and data. And now I’m pleased to hear I can get all that goodness on the go. Wikipedia has introduced a mobile version for cell phones and PDAs. I’ve been waiting for a quality citizen newspaper to hit the cyber streets. One that gives me the headlines, and links to similar articles, updated by my peers, trustworthy (!), maybe ability to comment and rant, and so on. In the meantime, I have news aggregators such as Yahoo!7 News headlines and GoogleNews and stuff emailed to me; if I’m interested I click through and if I can find the article’s text in amongst the barrage of ads, I’m happy.
