If you are in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane I am teaching some one day hands on courses on social media campaigns, Facebook and Twitter, also 1/2 day courses on LinkedIn or Google Plus. Handson means the practical exercises are computer based (we have a lab).  Please forward this (Share on Facebook, Tweet it, email, whatevs ) to anyone you think might be interested?  If you want to do a course with me later on, want early bird pricing, or just general tips on social media, you can also signup for my enewsletter (stuff that doesn’t make it on to the blog).

Social Media Campaign (one day course)

We cover the basis of a 5-step social media campaign and then use the computers to gain hands on practical use of social media tactics and tools including Facebook, Twitter, a monitoring station and a social media website. which the student can continue to use after the course. This is very intensive course.

Google Plus For Business (Morning Course)

We cover the basics of the service and then use the computers to gain hands on practical use of Google Plus for both Personal but mainly Business use, which the student can continue to use after the course. This is a very intensive course on the world’s fastest growing social network from Google. Computer access is restricted to 12 people so places are limited in this course.  Google Plus reached 49 million members (Dec 2011) in only a few months! And more interestingly, Google Plus is set to reach 400 million members during 2012. Facebook has around 800 million members – why not spend an afternoon learning about Google Plus

LinkedIn for Business (Afternoon Course)

We cover the basics of the service and then use the computers to gain hands on practical use of LinkedIn for both Professional but mainly Company use, which the student can continue to use after the course. This is a very intensive course on the world’s largest professional social network, LinkedIn. Computer access is restricted to 12 people so places are limited in this course. LinkedIn is the truly business social network and suitable for business to business (accountants, lawyers, consultants) as well as recruiters and career people. LinkedIn has 100 million members worldwide and over a million Australians active on it monthly – wy not spend an morning learning about LinkedIN?

Social media for accountants View SlideShare presentation or Upload your own. (tags: socialmedia socialnetworks) I was in Adelaide last week, presenting to CPA Australia. Interesting group – though it was the end of the day and we only had time for 3 or 4 questions. Last time (CPA Australia, Brisbane) I spent a couple of days adapting a “monetizing social media” for them only to find out that not only did they not blog, but they didn’t use YouTube or Wikipedia. Nor, strangely enough did they belong to Facebook (only one person admitted being a member of Facebook, well below Continue Reading…

I was poking around, looking for an Australian competitor site to PissedConsumer.com and getsatisfaction.com. Came up with Not Good Enough (both .com.au and .org) – 54,000 members and started in 2002. I love finding these little powerful communities that don’t make it on superficial Top 100 lists. Who wants to sue NGE Offenders MCI TechnologiesMCI TEchnologies – aka Tomato Technologies threated NGE with legal action when they claimed that we had published gripes about their Star Trader software without giving them the right of reply. NGE maintains that it’s not our fault if companies cannot manage their email efficiently. The Continue Reading…

I speak sometimes about Olive Riley to people who insist on throwing the “only kids and geeks use social media sites” at me. Olive Riley blogged at http://www.allaboutolive.com.au and was a popular blogger. In the same vein as geriatric1927 on YouTube I guess. The article from SMH (hat tip: Gary Hayes) World’s oldest blogger makes final post Olive Riley and Mike Rubbo – Farewell Olive, your posts will live on in our hearts. The Australian woman renowned as the world’s oldest internet blogger has made her final post, aged 108. Olive Riley, of Woy Woy on NSW’s central coast, died Continue Reading…

will try this line tonight – thanks GapingVoid! In May 2006, a PHD student had this to say about Facebook: Socioeconomic motives. People commonly cite the fact that Facebook was started at Harvard as a factor in its success – that these ivy league students proved tastemakers for the rest of the country. Sure, this may have been a slight motive very early in the rollout process, but I do not believe it is a critical factor. However, there are critical socioeconomic factors tied in to the Facebook. First, the class of student who uses the Facebook is a unique Continue Reading…

Hat Tip: Stephen Withers of ITWire. Brisbane and Launceston helpdesks of Telstra are being closed down – or ‘boned’ (Telstra employee words, not mine). Nothing too unusual I guess – redundancies happen- just odd that Telstra have what… 14 bloggers? This is the second one to be booted. Conversation over Technical Difficulties: It’s the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine… by Nic Frankpitt, Friday, 08 June 2007 This post contains an angry person ranting. I thought you might like that as a warning, first of all. If you don’t want to read it, that’s Continue Reading…
