This is a hands-on computer based course that takes you step by step through how to create, edit, tweak and promote a Facebook and Twitter campaign. We use various Facebook and Twitter tools (including 3rd party development) to build and manage business campaigns online – by both teamwork and individual use of internet enabled PCs. The course is aimed at those who are investigating Facebook and Twitter for business purposes but will also suit personal or hobbyists interested in knowing more about both social network services.

Topics Covered

  • 9:30 – 10:45 am Setting Up Facebook

Selecting private and public profiles, establishing identity and trust. Closed gated communities connecting with open discussions. Finding and monitoring groups on Facebook.

  • 10:45 – 11:00 Break
  • 11:00 – 11:50 Create a Fanpage

Tips with regards to creating a Facebook Fan Page, inviting fans. Set up your administration panel and understand the metrics.

  • 11:50 am – 12:30pm Facebook ads

Tips on writing Facebook ads. Create an ad, target it to prospective customers or fans. Different types of ads. Per click vs per 1000 impressions. Note: Facebook requires your credit card for ads to go live, but you may choose to ‘draft’ one.

  • 12:30 am – 1:15pm Lunch (provided onsite)
  • 1:15 pm – 2pm Setting up your business Twitter account

Logon to Twitter and set up your profile for maximum benefit. Understand the rituals and ‘politics’ of the Twitter community. A look at trust and reputation in Twitter community, and tools to build yours further.

  • 2:00pm – 2:50pm Building a Twitter audience

We will log onto a variety of tools that grow audience followers. Understand the pros and cons of auto-return follow, auto-follow, keyword follow and auto-direct messaging. If you don’t know what that means, don’t worry – the afternoon is to explore!

There are amazing Twitter tools out there – literally thousands, everything from augmented reality tweets floating down the street, to map mashups to marketing analytics that monitor the number of discussions, velocity, reach, and sentiment of your brand’s keywords. Find out which twitterers have high ratings on velocity, reach, generosity and other metrics.
