Funny, every time I see this ‘exclusive BB offer’ now… … I think “walled garden“. When did Exclusive Offer equal Wrong Move ? Why do I have to change to a 3 sim card/package to watch BB, why can’t I watch it anywhere, anytime, on any device? Let’s start up a “Free Big Brother” community… Oh ok, let’s not and say we did. Heh. Tags: anti marketing, Australia, Media, telecommunications, walled garden, exclusive offer, big brother, bb, 3 mobile
I’m liking this site a lot. I hate having to plug my Nokia 95 into either my desktop or laptop to back it up. It always launches stuff I don’t want – photo albums- does a hostile takeover of video and image software. The contact list isn’t accessible if I’m not plugged in – how stupid is that? – and there’s a tonne of other reasons I don’t like Nokia’s desktop unManagement software. Bloove. Rocks.Use your cellphone to navigate to bloove.com/m (I use wireless at home so I don’t have to pay Optus). Download the app (check the date of Continue Reading…

I’ve identified around 240-250 mobile social networks. I’ve been steadily trying to install their little apps. One after another have failed. I of course, assumed it was the telco blocking ‘em or my mobile was out of date (Nokia N95) or a problem with the security certificates or … But no. My mobile phone date has been set on 2007 since the first week of January. Completely by accident. I haven’t been able to understand why old SMS messages (from late 2007) were listed first, before the 2008 stuff. I couldn’t work out why security certificates were failing. I just Continue Reading…

w00t we make a difference! Mark Pesce started it, me and a handful of others have been blogging about it. Ajay and Myles even established a mashup ICanHazMeraki.Net (why isn’t it embeddable? Grrr ajay!) Anyway, Sydney Morning Herald has caught on: A group of socially networked geeks hopes to bring free wi-fi to the masses, reports Simon Sharwood. FRUSTRATED by the NSW Government’s stalled free wi-fi project, a group of Facebookers have decided to start their own. Yep Aussie Facebookers might be wasting $5 million of employers money, but at least they are doing it bringing down telecommunications companies It Continue Reading…

You think this is a joke???!!! Mesh is where you – at home or in your office – donate a tiny sliver of your broadband to the ether, to create a mesh around Sydney or San Francisco or whereever, so people can walk around with mobile devices or laptops and access the internet using wifi. Until now, I’ve been wondering why people would do that. I mean, I get that they would – we donate a lot of time and energy to collaboration online, peer-to-peer support and content for free – but still, I thought it would be a bit Continue Reading…
