If you are in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane I am teaching some one day hands on courses on social media campaigns, Facebook and Twitter, also 1/2 day courses on LinkedIn or Google Plus. Handson means the practical exercises are computer based (we have a lab).  Please forward this (Share on Facebook, Tweet it, email, whatevs ) to anyone you think might be interested?  If you want to do a course with me later on, want early bird pricing, or just general tips on social media, you can also signup for my enewsletter (stuff that doesn’t make it on to the blog).

Social Media Campaign (one day course)

We cover the basis of a 5-step social media campaign and then use the computers to gain hands on practical use of social media tactics and tools including Facebook, Twitter, a monitoring station and a social media website. which the student can continue to use after the course. This is very intensive course.

Google Plus For Business (Morning Course)

We cover the basics of the service and then use the computers to gain hands on practical use of Google Plus for both Personal but mainly Business use, which the student can continue to use after the course. This is a very intensive course on the world’s fastest growing social network from Google. Computer access is restricted to 12 people so places are limited in this course.  Google Plus reached 49 million members (Dec 2011) in only a few months! And more interestingly, Google Plus is set to reach 400 million members during 2012. Facebook has around 800 million members – why not spend an afternoon learning about Google Plus

LinkedIn for Business (Afternoon Course)

We cover the basics of the service and then use the computers to gain hands on practical use of LinkedIn for both Professional but mainly Company use, which the student can continue to use after the course. This is a very intensive course on the world’s largest professional social network, LinkedIn. Computer access is restricted to 12 people so places are limited in this course. LinkedIn is the truly business social network and suitable for business to business (accountants, lawyers, consultants) as well as recruiters and career people. LinkedIn has 100 million members worldwide and over a million Australians active on it monthly – wy not spend an morning learning about LinkedIN?

YouTube Symphony Sydney Opera House Online Community Makes Music! Imagine The X Factor but the auditions are held online, the music is classical and The London Symphony Orchestra and others “judge” the YouTube videos on the players precision and tone. Well, The Sydney Opera House hosted 25 million people (most of them online!) last night for the Youtube Symphony. A hundred or so sat outside in the rain and watched the light show or the screen in Hyundai or whatever it’s called, Park. My partner and I headed to Circular Quay last night to sit in the rain and wind Continue Reading…

I spoke on how Japanese companies were doing in social media overseas. Japanese people on the panel talked about online community and social media marketing at home, and I focussed on how it was working for Japanese companies in America, Europe, Australia etc. An amazingly popular talk, people were lined up outside to try and get in – though I think the conference itself had 8000 participants, so hardly surprising. You go to some conferences these days and the number of speakers out numbers the participants. The key for me was to look at group activity versus the use of Continue Reading…

This is a presentation to ConnectNow in Sydney 2010. It’s really about “what is money” – the community requirements, how community uses money, that all money even “real” money is virtual. Social Media Monetization Connect Now View more presentations from Laurel Papworth. I’ll probably put more up once I actually GIVE the presentation. It’s just that I promise people at conferences that I’ll put the preso up on my blog and then I go to drinks and dinner and the next thing I know a week has passed and – the curse of timely content – the subject is dead.

I”m giving away a free ticket to Connectnow that starts tomorrow. I know, late notice, but I just had a yummy Easter holiday and well, all the cool kids are already going. I asked the speakers for their favourite blog post (their own blog) and this was their response – it might help for you to get to know them before tomorrow’s conference:

I spoke at Media140  Sydney – I want to highlight some of the “arguments” used against social media by the panels, also focus on Everybody co-creating The Human Narrative and the diminishing role of journalists who take news from one part  of the community and deliver it to another part:  It’s not YOUR content. It’s our content. Our stories. We didn’t give you the Human Story, we loaned it to you, and now we’re taking it back. Such an odd day – I couldn’t seem to get my feet under me at Media140 Sydney. Journalists kept coming up with the Continue Reading…
