eBay makes more money from it’s APIs than it does from onsite auctions. So does SaaS Salesforce. So does Amazon. Apparently RyanAir is choosing not to do that: Ryanair blocks ‘illegal’ bookings Ryanair is to cancel thousands of its own customers’ bookings after they were made through internet travel agents whose activities it says are illegal. The airline is targeting price comparison websites on which you can buy Ryanair flights without having to go directly to the Irish firm’s site. Ryanair says this is against its terms and conditions, and the technology used slows down its site for other users. Continue Reading…

Imagine: you just found out your kid is being cyberbullied. You want to take away their mobile phone and laptop, but you know that’s a hiding to nowhere. So you give them the ‘talk’ about sticks and stones. But you find out they are up at 11pm and 2am checking their messages and refreshing their profile pages. What to do? Well first, stop doing this: I’m just picking on this poor guy. Our children observe a world filled with advertising and emulate it in their graffiti. Are they responsible for not understanding that only certain people can dump branding on certain walls? Advertising is branding and expression of the company. Graffiti is self-branding and self-expression of the individual. Does that make it wrong? Osaka advertising wall (foto by randomlogik) Monkey See. Melbourne Alleyways graffiti(foto by Gary Hayes) Monkey Do. If we don’t want the next generation to grow up mimicking us, we have to change our behaviours. Put glowing, self promotional garbage up on the walls, expect glowing, self promotional garbage to Continue Reading…

From today’s Sydney Morning Herald (gotta love Plugger!) Downturn trims number of job ads,Miriam Steffen THE number of job advertisements in Australia’s major newspapers has slumped 21.7 per cent over the past year, figures released yesterday show, adding to evidence before this month’s media earnings reports that the economic slowdown is taking its toll on the industry.
