I wish people would stop confusing social media with social networks. Unless every single thing you do online is media, there is a difference! Ah well, here is a study on social health: ABOUT 60% OF ALL ADULTS over 18 use the Web to find health and wellness info, according to new research from iCrossing. And while search is still the dominant channel for accessing that info, Americans are increasingly turning to social media sites–including Wikipedia, blogs, message boards and social networking groups–to educate themselves about specific diseases or conditions. Over two days in December 2007, iCrossing questioned more than Continue Reading…
Target opens their legs – but not for bloggers From NewsBusters: Target department stores apparently haven’t gotten the memo that dissing the Internet and bloggers can be a dangerous game for a retailer these days. And, Target isn’t just dissing blogges and “non-traditional media” they might be claiming they won’t even interact with them. All this over a new advertisement that shows a woman in Winter clothing, spread-eagled atop the Target logo, the center of which appears right between the model’s spread legs. Just what the “target” here is, can be a pertinent question to ask and several consumer advocates Continue Reading…

Every day, over two hundred thousand Australian children are exposed to harmful Internet beams. In order to stem the foul tide of e-terror, the Department of Internets has published a catalog of approved Continue Reading…

I’m feeling lazy today, so a ‘filtering’ post (not original content). Brought to you direct from Twitter blog: Twittering for The Children Yesterday I received this email from one of our Dutch Twitter fans. Biz, This morning, dutch journalist and TV presenter Francisco van Jole (@2525) asked if the dutch twitterazi did anything for the OLPC project. I responded by suggesting we’d have a fund raising day today; every tweet with the term ‘olpc’ in it would count as one euro sponsorship money. Since such laptops cost about 140 euro’s, @2525 said he would buy one if we’d reach 140 Continue Reading…

Back in September I reported on a new bill passed in the government: Australia you can’t be trusted! (blame Chaser?) From Mashable (why didn’t I see this anywhere else? hmmm?): Is Australia the New China? by Kristen Nicole Several privacy advocates are in an uproar Continue Reading…
